Book of the Bible Sermon Series Podcasts

The series listed below are all drawn from a book of the Bible and are listed in canonical order (i.e. Genesis, Exodus, etc.).

The Book of Exodus

Exodus is full of well-known, celebrated stories that are touchstones of God’s work in ancient Israel and are referenced throughout the rest of the Bible. But it is also a diverse book with passages of songs, laws and even, for lack of a better description, detailed building manuals. Pastor Jarrod Cruise will take us through the second book of the Bible, considering passages both well-worn and those less emphasized.

The Book of 1 Samuel

This series is the beginning of Pastor Calvin Reed’s set of sermon series that cover the rise and fall of kingdoms of Israel and Judah, as recorded in the books of 1 and 2 Samuel through 1 and 2 Kings. This book chronicles the ministry of Samuel, a prophet who was used by God to anoint a king, and the reign of King Saul. Pastor Reed highlights how the conflict between these men (and a young shepherd-turned-soldier) hold important applications for our own walk with God. Recorded at Lebanon Bible Fellowship Church in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, USA.

The Book of 2 Samuel

Pastor Calvin Reed continues from his series on 1 Samuel. This book begins with David’s grief at learning of King Saul’s death and covers David’s ascension to the throne and the reign of now King David, one of the most important eras in the Old Testament history. Recorded at Lebanon Bible Fellowship Church in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, USA.

The Book of 1 Kings

Pastor Calvin Reed continues his series on the kings God raised up to rule Israel following the time of the Judges. The books of 1 Kings follows 2 Samuel, beginning with the waning days of King David’s life and covers King Solomon’s rule, the split of the kingdom into Israel and Judah, and the succession of kings that ruled each kingdom. The book contains numerous reminders of God’s providence and sovereignty, as well as the importance of following His will for our life and seeking to worship him in accordance with His Word.

The Book of 2 Kings

This series is a continuation of Pastor Calvin Reed’s sermons covering the histories of the nation of Israel from the reign of Saul to the Babylonian Exile. Second Kings picks up from the last chapter of First Kings with King Ahaziah’s succession and ends with the destruction of Jerusalem and the beginning of Babylonian captivity.

The Book of Job

The book of Job is one of the most challenging books in the Bible in many ways as it deals extensively with suffering. The theme of this book is, “why does man serve God? Is it because of God’s blessings or because of who God is?” Pastor Calvin Reed preaches on what we are to learn from Job’s journey from joy to sorrow and then to praise.

Psalm 119

Pastor Jarrod Cruise delivers a series of sermons on the chapter some call, “the Mount Everest of the Bible,” Psalm 119. This psalm is a deep, striking meditation on the value of the Scriptures and contains practical advice, comforting truths, important warnings and poetic imagery. This psalm is a touchstone for believers seeking to live righteously in accordance with God’s Word.

The Book of Daniel

The book of Daniel begins with the judgement of God in the form of Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar’s conquests and covers both the rise of Daniel and other faithful Jewish captives as they strive to serve both God and the king. Pastor Eric Herb Jr. delivers this series that shows how God’s faithfulness is displayed as He provides his people with wisdom, miraculously safeguards their lives and gives Daniel prophetic knowledge of His plan for His people.

The Book of Amos

During the time of the prophet Amos, the kingdom of Israel was affluent, powerful and growing. Yet the book of Amos records stark warnings for this kingdom as God rejects their worship because they fail to walk in righteousness and deliver justice to the poor. Pastor Jarrod Cruise preaches on this book of striking, poetic warnings and prophetic visions of God’s coming judgement that will destroy the society focused on wealth and power instead of justice and righteousness.

The Book of Habakkuk (2024)

The book of Habakkuk is like the prayer journal of the prophet Habakkuk. It covers what he is thinking, feeling, and agonizing over as he considers the sin of his nation and brings his indignation, fear, anger and finally worship to God. Pastor Jarrod Cruise preaches through each strong, poetic emotion of this prophet burdened by evil times and, most importantly, God’s response and the truth and comfort found in reflecting on God’s sovereignty.

The Book of Ephesians

In his series on Ephesians, Pastor Calvin Reed preaches through passages that establish foundational doctrines like election, new life in Christ, and the power of resurrection with Christ. This letter also includes famous exhortations for believers, like putting on the armor of God, and applications for walking in faith, growing in spiritual knowledge, promoting peace and unity in a diverse church, and glorifying God through every relationship.

The Book of Colossians

The book of Colossians begins with thanksgiving for God’s work building up the faith of the Christians at Colossae and allowing the Gospel to bear fruit in their lives. The writer, Paul the Apostle, then expresses the hope that we have in Christ and the effect that this knowledge should have on us individually, as a church body and in our everyday relationships. Pastor Jarrod Cruise delivers this series of sermons on this epistle which contains both inspiring truths and practical instruction.

The Book of 1 Thessalonians (2023)

First Thessalonians is a letter of comfort and instruction written to encourage a church in the midst of difficult times. It reminds us that believers will experience God’s love, despite persecution that comes from being a child of God, and that God will keep his people strong in their faith, allowing us to stand in the midst of great difficulty. Pastor Reed covers the book in this series of sermons.

The Letter of James

Pastor Jarrod Cruise delivers a series of sermons from the epistle of James. This book contains wisdom and applications for Christians who are confronted with trials and suffering, in need of wisdom, searching for an eternal source of comfort, or simply trying to use their wealth, position and power in a god-honoring way. It is a book that has highly pragmatic applications built on a foundation of recognizing God’s sovereignty, God’s grace and examples of faith found throughout the Bible. The Book of James is highly instructive for daily living and Pastor Jarrod Cruise works through it verse-by-verse to share its essential lessons.

The Book of 2 Peter

Pastor Reed’s final sermon series as senior pastor is on the book of 2 Peter begins with Peter’s parting thoughts. Pastor Reed also covers our hope in Christ and His glorious return, as well as final coming judgment and the trustworthiness of the Scriptures. He also addresses the question, “why hasn’t the Lord returned by now?” and shares Peter’s warning against false teachers.

Topic Sermon Series Podcasts

Sermon podcasts in this section center on a topic, idea, theme, or any other unifying idea as opposed to a single book of the Bible. They are listed alphabetically by title.

Barnabus the Encourager

The name “Barnabas” means son of encouragement. Joseph, an early Christian, was given this name by the apostles because he was an influential, positive example to the early Church. In this four-part series, Pastor Calvin Reed highlights the life of Barnabas and what it teaches us about being an encouragement to the Church through our example.

Memorable Verses

While all of the Bible is “for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16) some verses are used more often for memorization or quotation. This sermon series focused on these oft-used verses, uncovering why they are emphasized and what they have to teach us today. It is preached by Pastor Calvin Reed, Pastor Jarrod Cruise, and Pastor Eric Herb Jr.

The Life of Elijah

Elijah is considered one of the greatest prophets in the Bible. Pastor Cruise teaches a sermon series specifically focusing on his life and what we can learn from his walk with God and his ministry to an idolatrous kingdom of Israel. This series draws from 1 and 2 Kings and was recorded at Lebanon Bible Fellowship Church in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, USA.
