Weekly Services and Programs
Children can join age-specific Sunday School classes at 9:30 am. All ages are welcome in our Worship Services, including the Sunday Morning Service at 10:45 AM and Sunday Evening Service at 7:00 pm. On Wednesdays, children attend an age specific Prayer Meeting at 7:30 pm. See below for more information about each weekly opportunity.
All ages from 4 years old through 6th grade are invited to attend classes geared for their specific age group. Our Children’s Sunday School begins in the Fall and is organized into seasonal quarters.
The curriculum we use is from Great Commission Publications and it begins with introducing foundational theological concepts through age-appropriate lessons and key scriptures for younger children. We believe it is accessible and understandable for children as they grow while teaching them how to read, learn from and rely on the Bible. Classes for older children focus on specific books of the Bible or survey certain sections, such as the Gospels or Minor Prophets.
Our congregation has been blessed with many adults who are PA certified teachers in local schools who volunteer in our Sunday School. Our Superintendent is Mike Wise, who has taught for over a decade at a local school district and our Sunday School is carefully overseen by the Christian Education Committee, our pastoral staff and the Board of Elders.
During our weekly prayer meeting, the nursery is staffed for children from birth to 2 years old. Children ages 2 through kindergarten and children grades 1-6 are welcome to join a class for their respective age group.
Seasonal Programs and Opportunities
We strive to have engaging programs throughout our calendar. Below are some of the regular events to look forward to in the course of the year.
Day Camp
Every year, our church invites all children to a week of fun guided activities, teaching, singing and a daily trip to the pool. Day Camp regularly reaches more than 150 children and is one of the most anticipated events of the Summer.
Children’s Choir
During the winter and spring, children practice weekly and perform once a month during our evening service.
Children’s Christmas Performances
During the Christmas season, our children perform either a play or a musical celebrating Christ’s birth and communicating the meaning of God’s incredible gift.
EMBARC Bible Memorization
EMBARC (Early Memorization Builds A Regular Commitment) is a Scripture memorization program for children in grades 2-12. It is a way for children to memorize Scripture which will last a lifetime.
More about EMBARC...
Our 12-week program runs during the first quarter of each year. As they progress through the 11 levels of the program, children will memorize key verses pertaining to Salvation, The Person of Christ, Prayer, The Word of God, Resisting Temptation, Guidance, and other topics. They also memorize larger sections of Scripture including the Ten Commandments, The Lord’s Prayer, the Beatitudes, Psalm 23 and other important excerpts. During the course of the program, they will meet weekly with a listener, who volunteers to be an encouragement to them as they memorize God’s Word. Children also earn funds that can be used for church programs like various summer camp opportunities. See below for more information.
Psalm 119:11
“I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”
Our Policy for Church Volunteers
In accordance with applicable Pennsylvania State laws regarding requirements for children/youth volunteers in the context of a church, all volunteers and staff members are required to complete and submit a set Child Abuse Clearances before being allowed to volunteer in any capacity that involves children and youth. We also have policies in place to ensure these clearance are kept up to date. If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information about the policy, please visit "Volunteer Information" page.
